You are listening to a one microphone live recording from Hot House (Chicago) in May of 2007. Nick plays saxophones, clarinets, flutes and bassoon.
Nick Moran was born in 1972 and grew up in and around Detroit, Michigan. After studying classical saxophone, flute and clarinet in college he moved to Chicago where he now spends most of his time when not performing back in his native Detroit or out on the road. He has performed with the Chicago Symphony, Elgin Symphony, Rockford Symphony, Illinois Philharmonic, Kalamazoo Symphony, Macomb Symphony and has been a member of over fifty pit orchestras. He has performed with the Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Jimmy Dorsey, Lawrence Welk, and Nelson Riddle orchestras as well as having performed as a professional freelance musician with: Lou Rawls, Mel Torme, James Moody, Joey DeFrancesco, Phil Woods, Houston Pearson, The Temptations, The O'Jays, Wayne Newton and many others.
Nick maintains a busy performance schedule and is proud to perform regularly with many great ensembles in Chicago. Some of the groups he can be heard with are M13, Mulligan Mosaics Big Band, Ian Torres Big Band and Hector Silveira's Orchestra.
